The world knows that nobody can stop Donald Trump from saying what he wishes to say. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his first meeting with Trump post revoking special status of Jammu and Kashmir had made it clear that Kashmir is the internal issue between India and Pakistan and there is no scope of third party mediation.

Here’s a list of 5 major takeaways from PM Modi and Donald Trump’s meet from G7 Summit in Biarritz.

India’s stance on resolving the Kashmir crisis on its own has paid off, Donald Trump not once in his discussion mentioned the word mediation. In fact, He made a swift move onto discussing other important issues like business and trade.

PM Modi in his own style told Trump to back off on Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “There are many bilateral issues between India and Pakistan, and we don’t want to trouble any third country. We can discuss and resolve these issues bilaterally,”

For now, Donald Trump takes U-Turn from Kashmir issue and is willing to go with PM Modi’s assurance that Kashmir is under control. Trump said “The Prime Minister really feels he has it (the situation) under control. They speak with Pakistan and I’m sure that they will be able to do something that will be very good”.

Afghanistan is still a matter of grave concern for Trump. He expects other countries to help, especially India and Pakistan.

Both sides of the party kept mum about ongoing trade differences. But it appears India is still not Trump’s immediate target given the number of objections he took on US-China trade war. The only country Trump is happy with is Japan, who buys tonnes of corn directly from America’s local farmers.

And at the end, an evident affability was witnessed between the two world leaders when Trump jokingly said Narendra Modi can speak good English but not Hindi. Trump nudged Modi and both of them broke into laughter.
