Nokia 8.2 with 5G support tipped to launch at MWC 2020, no 4G version expected

Nokia 8.2 5G will be fueled by the forthcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 chipset which will succeed the Snapdragon 730.

HMD Global is currently working on Nokia 8.2 smartphone. An earlier report revealed that the Nokia 8.2 may arrive in two variants – a 4G LTE edition and a 5G variant. But as per a fresh report, Nokia 8.2 will only arrive in 5G version.

Nokia Power User reports that HMD dropped the idea of launching two versions of the same smartphone as it did in the case of Nokia 6.1 and 6.1 Plus and followed up with only one Nokia 6.2. They are going to do the same with Nokia 8.2. Only one version of Nokia 8.2 with 5G support may debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020, which is expected to happen in late February.

As per an earlier report, Nokia 8.2 5G will be fueled by the forthcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 chipset which will succeed the Snapdragon 730. The Nokia 8.2 5G will come in three variants – 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. The 8GB RAM variant will be a first for a Nokia smartphone.

The phone will have a quad-camera setup with a 64MP primary sensor and also a pop-up selfie camera. The pop-up selfie camera at the top of the Nokia 8.2 is expected to be a 32MP sensor which could be Samsung’s GD1 image sensor with Quad-Bayer pixel-binning technology.
