Umar Akmal Gets Suspended By Pakistan Cricket Board Amid Anit-Corruption Investigation

Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal has been handed over a suspensation by the Pakistan Board Of Cricket. The action was taken with immediate effect owing to the pending anti-corruption investigation against the batsman. In a statement, the Board said, The Pakistan Cricket Board today suspended Umar Akmal with immediate effect. He cannot take part in any cricket-related activity pending the investigation being carried out by PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit.” The Board further added that as this is an on-going investigation, the PCB will not make any further comments.

The PCB didn’t speak about the actual breach committed by Akmal.

Meanwhile, Umar Akmal’s team Quetta Gladiators are allowed to look out for a replacement ahead of the 2020 PSL edition beginning on Thursday.

In the tournament opener, Quetta Gladiators will take on two-time former winners Islamabad United.

Speaking of Umar Akmal, the 29-year old last played for Pakistan in October. He has featured in 84 T20Is, 121 ODIs, and 16 Test matches.

Recently, Umar Akmal was trending on Twitter for his lack of grammatical sense in a recent post on his Instagram story.
