Indian Railways arranges 960 COVID care coaches in five states

Indian Railways has deployed 960 COVID care coaches in five states — Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh. Out of the total COVID coaches, 503 have been deployed in Delhi, 20 in Andhra, 60 in Telangana, 372 in UP and five in MP.

Amid the surging numbers of Coronavirus cases in the country, Indian Railways has decided to deploy over 900 train coaches in five states which will be completely dedicated for the care of Coronavirus patients.

960 in total, these isolation coaches are being deployed in the states: Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

National capital Delhi has continued to be one of the worst hit states. As of now, there are 26,351 active cases in Delhi. With this, the total tally for the Coronavirus cases in the national capital has been pushed to 44,688. 

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s daily bulletin suggests that as many as 16,500 Covid-19 patients have been recovered, while 1,837 people have lost their lives to the deadly disease. 

Due to the worsening situation Delhi has been allotted 503 coaches. Of these, 50 are stationed at Shakurbasti station, 267 at Anand Vihar, 21 at Delhi Safdarjung, 50 at Delhi Sarai Rohilla, 33 at Delhi Cantt, 30 at Adarsh Nagar, 13 at Delhi Shahdara, 13 at Tughlakabad and 26 at Patel Nagar station.

After Delhi, Uttar Pradesh is the second state to have maximum railways coaches for the care of Coronavirus patients. Railways has decided to deploy as many as 372 coaches in the state.

The COVID-19 care coaches will be stationed at 23 different junctions in the state: Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Jn., Lucknow, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Faizabad, Saharanpur, Mirzapur, Subedarganj, Kanpur, Jhansi, Jhansi Workshop, Agra, Nakha Jungle, Gonda, Nautanwa, Bahraich, Varanasi City, Manduadih, Mau, Bhatni, Bareilly City, Farrukhabad and Kasganj.

In Telangana, the railways has granted minimum of 60 COVID-19 care coaches, which will be deployed at three locations : Secunderabad, Kachguda and Adilabad.

Andhra Pradesh has also been reeling under the Coronavirus threat. To curb the spread, railways has deployed nearly 20 train coaches which will be stationed at Vijayawada junction.

In Madhya Pradesh, the the five train coaches granted by the railways will be stationed at the Gwalior station.
