On Thursday evening, Punjab will lock horns with Mumbai at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Ahead of the much-awaited match, Punjab Head Coach Anil Kumble is expecting the squad to forth their ‘A’ game. He says that if Punjab wants to bring down Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai, they have to give their best performance. Anil Kumble expects all-round performance from Punjab against Mumbai.
In a video shared on the official handle of Punjab, Anil Kumble is saying, “We need to assess the conditions, we are entering Abu Dhabi which is a new venue for us. Having said that, Mumbai is a very strong team, we know that. They are a very settled team, they have been playing the same XI, almost the same XI for the last couple of years.”
The former India bowler further adds that they know the strength’s of Mumbai’s team. Thus, Punjab will also have to bring their ‘A’ game against them.
The Head Coach expressed his happiness on the way the Punjab-based franchise is being consistent for the past three games. Kumble expects this form to spill in the game against the Mumbai squad.
Speaking of Punjab’s last outing, they played against Rajasthan and lost it by 4 wickets.
Most of Punjab’s batsmen including Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul are in their best forms. Their bowlers are also proving themselves to be a nightmare for the opposition batsmen.
Kumble placed emphasis on the fact that the Abu Dhabi wicket will be different from Sharjah. Hence, the team will have to adjust themselves to the conditions to perform well.
Speaking of Punjab’s performance in IPL 2020, they have played three matches so far in the tournament. Out of the three, they have won only one. On the other hand, Mumbai also has one match in the 13th season of the IPL.
On the points table, Punjab is in the fifth position and Mumbai is in the sixth position.
