Spotify has released its yearly annual consolidated 2020 year’s music list featuring top songs, artists and podcasts on their platform which were most widely listened and heard by netizens whilst the global pandemic lockdown months till now.

Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny was the most hugely heard and globally streamed artist on the platform who was closely followed by Drake, next on the third number was J Balvin, fourth position was taken by late singer Juice WRLD and the fifth globally viral and trending artist on Spotify was The Weeknd, whose musical single song “Blinding Lights” was the most streamed song all around the world on Spotify this year with almost 1.6 billion streams in 2020 regardless of being released in November 2019.

The globally famous viral short form making app TikTok’s favourite track was followed by Tones And I’s Dance Monkey, which is now the most loved and raved song of all time. It was then also followed by the song The Box by Roddy Ricch, Roses Imanbek Remix by Imanbek and SAINt JHN, and Don’t Start Now by Dua Lipa.

Interestingly, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s WAP and BTS Dynamite two of the year’s biggest singles, didn’t make the five most streamed songs on Spotify despite breaking records elsewhere.

Billie Eilish was the undisputed queen continuously for a second year in a row as the most streamed female artist on Spotify, joined by Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, and Halsey.

Also as far as the most globally streamed albums on Spotify for 2020 are concerned, then the most heard and globally viral one’s were Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG with over 3.3 billion streams, then The Weeknd’s After Hours, Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding, Harry Styles’ Fine Line, and Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia.
