Indian skipper Virat Kohli is on a runs spree. The captain has become the first one to score 20,000 International runs in a decade. The right-hander now has 20,502 runs in all formats. He has scored 20,018 runs from 2010. Kohli made his Test and T20I debut in 2010, but he had made his ODI debut in 2008, scoring 484 runs from his debut till 2010.
Kohli overtook Ricky Ponting who scored 18962 runs in the 2000s. The third place is acquired by Jacques Kallis who scored 16777 runs in the 2000s.
Sachin Tendulkar is at Number 6 with 15962 runs while Rahul Dravid is on Number 7 with 15853 runs.
After winning the series against West Indies, the captain said “I have been around for a while. Experience counts in pressure situations, understanding where the game is heading and what I need to do in terms of the tempo of the game.”
“So you obviously want to take a lot of pride in stepping up for the team as much as you can and I definitely take a lot of pride in that.”
