The Indian Premier League (IPL) has begun in full swing in the UAE. The 13th season of the T-20 league is being played outside India due to the spike in coronavirus cases in the country. On Sunday evening, Delhi locked horns with Punjab in a nail-biting game. Hence, the Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer is all praises for his seam bowler Kagiso Rabada.

The Proteas bowler helped Delhi knock Punjab down by grabbing two back-to-back wickets. This incident took place during the Super Over. Rabada accounted for the dismissals of Punjab skipper KL Rahul and Caribbean fiery batsman Nicholas Pooran in two consecutive deliveries. This left Delhi to chase a small target of just 3 runs.

The Delhi-based franchise successfully chased down the paltry target of 3 without much delay. It helped them with starting their journey in the 13th season of IPL with a win.

In the post-match interview, Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer was all praises for the star of the game, Kagiso Rabada. Praising him, Iyer said, “It was difficult to see the game turning in different directions. We are used to this. Even last season we faced these. KG is the winning performer, and the way Stoinis batted was game-changing. It was important for us to get wickets, since the total was small, and I knew if I saved KG’s over for the end it would be helpful.”

Shreyas Iyer also spoke about Ravichandran Ashwin who suffered a shoulder injury while saving a single. Speaking of which Iyer said that Ashwin says he will be ready for the next game. But, in the end, it is the decision of the physio.

On the other hand, Punjab skipper KL Rahul termed the franchise’s first outing in the IPL 2020 as “Bittersweet”.

For the unversed, the 13th season of the IPL is a TV only affair.
