In a recent interview, Pakistan’s former pacer Shoaib Akhtar expressed his willingness to become India’s bowling coach. When asked about his opinion on being associated with India’s cricket team, he responded in a positive way. He said that he is interested in becoming India’s bowling coach if there is an opportunity in the future.
Shoaib said that he would groom ‘more aggressive, fast and talkative’ pacers. Akhtar said, “I will definitely. My job is to spread knowledge. What I have learned is knowledge and I will spread it.”
As every cricket lover knows that Akhtar was one of the fastest bowlers of his time and batsmen fared facing his deliveries. He said, “I will produce more aggressive, fast and more talkative bowlers than the current ones who will tell-off the batsmen in a way that you will enjoy a lot.”
He confessed that he is always looking for an opportunity to spread the knowledge amongst the young and budding cricketers and he is looking forward to producing more aggressive bowler.
He also expressed his desire to coach IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders for which he played in the first edition of the T20 tournament.
Akhtar further went on to reveal the conversations he has had with India’s batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar during the 1998 series. He said, “I had seen him but didn’t know how big a name he was in India. In Chennai, I got to know that he was known as a god in India. Mind you, he is a very good friend of mine. In 1998, when I bowled as fast as I could, the Indian public celebrated with me. I have a big fan following in India.”
