IPL 2020: Shikhar Dhawan REVEALS Delhi’s Strategy After They Register Win Over Rajasthan

The Delhi-based franchise is doing incredibly well in the on-going Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The team consisting of youngsters is putting forth their best performance in the tournament. On Wednesday evening, Delhi registered a 13-run victory over Rajasthan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Shreyas Iyer-led team easily defended the target of 162-runs put up on the scoreboard. The team India batsman Shikhar Dhawan revealed Delhi’s strategy after the terrific win.

The left-handed batsman played a crucial knock of 57 runs off 33 deliveries alongside Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer who scored 53 runs off 43 balls. The partnership between the two helped Delhi fight back because they had lost two early wickets.

Speaking of Delhi’s strategy against Rajasthan, Shikhar Dhawan said that they targeted the weak batting line-up of the team. The 34-year old said that they knew if the first three batsmen of Rajasthan are sent back to the pavilion they can easily defend their 162-run target.

In the post-match presentation, Dhawan said, “Knew their batting isn’t deep. Knew if we got their top-order we can get them.”

For the unknown, Shikhar Dhawan was also the acting captain on the field as Shreyas Iyer suffered an injury during fielding. However, even after walking back to the team dugout, Iyer stayed on the sidelines till the very end.

Giving an update about Iyer’s injury, Dhawan says he is in pain but is able to move his shoulder. He also stated that any more updates about the same will be out soon.

On the other hand, Rajasthan skipper Steve Smith summed up his team’s performance as ‘disappointing’.

Now, after the win against Rajasthan, the Delhi-based franchise is back on the number position in the IPL Points Table. Speaking of Rajasthan, the team is at the seventh position in the eight-team tournament after losing yesterday’s game.

Up next, Delhi will lock horns with Chennai on October 17, while Rajasthan will face-off Bangalore on the same day.
