All the sporting events across the world have either got postponed or canceled because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. But the sportsmen are finding ways to keep themselves in touch with their passion in the midst of the lockdown. Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is amongst those players who are playing the sport indoors.
Shikhar Dhawan shared a video of himself playing cricket indoors with his son Zoravar. He posted the video on Twitter and captioned it by writing, “Quarantine Premier League ka sabse gripping moment Dhawan vs Dhawan.”
In the video, we can see Zoravar bowling to his father Shikhar Dhawan is what seems to be an intense game of indoor cricket.
Shikhar Dhawan has been quite active on social media spreading awareness about the novel coronavirus pandemic. Recently, Dhawan had urged people to help animals amid the lockdown. The 34-year old India batsman took to Twitter to talk about the problems animals are facing at the moment.
He said, “During this lockdown, a lot of animals/birds who were dependent on us for their daily food are now going to go hungry. Humble request to you to put out food/water bowls outside your homes. From the safety of our homes, save some souls.”
The novel coronavirus outbreak has caused a major blow to various sporting events. The Indian Premier League (IPL) which was scheduled to begin from 29th March got postponed to 15th April because of the sharp rise in the patients infected by the virus in India. IPL again got pushed back until no official date announced yet as the lockdown got extended.
With 1,409 new cases and 41 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, India’s total number of COVID-19 positive cases reached 21,393 on Thursday, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The major event of this year which got postponed are the Olympics 2020. The Tokyo Olympics 2020 was postponed by a year while one of Tennis’ biggest competition- Wimbledon was canceled for the first time since World War II.
