Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami Back In The Indian Squad For The Upcoming ODI Matches Against Australia

With the return of the in-form batsman Rohit Sharma and brilliant pacer, Mohammed Shami in the squad, the Men in Blue will be keen on taking revenge against Australia for the last year’s loss.

India and Australia are all set to take on each other in the three-match ODI series. With the first ODI being kicked start at Wankhede on 14 January (Today), there is a lot to look forward to in this 50-50 series. India will surely be seeking revenge for the loss of 3-2 they suffered last year playing against the Kangaroos.

Team India is sprinting with confidence after their win in the T20 International series win against Sri Lanka earlier this month. The Indian team performed well even in the absence of their two key players, Vice-captain Rohit Sharma and pace spearhead Mohammed Shami. But now it is official that both the crucial players are back in the squad to play against Australia.

By looking at Rohit’s recent form, his return into the squad will help team India retain its top order strength. Making Rohit Sharma the obvious choice to open the innings, it will be interesting to see who will be paired with him; KL Rahul or Shikhar Dhawan? In the recent matches, both KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan have proved their worth, but where KL is consistent with his current form, Dhawan is struggling to score major chunks of runs to contribute to the team’s victory.

Even when recently Gabbar roared on the field with his half-century against Sri Lanka giving a subtle hint of returning back to his old form, it will be interesting to see whom the Team Management will pick as a choice to open against the mighty in-form Australian team. Although Virat Kohli has hinted that all the three players (Rohit, KL, Dhawan) might play in the team. He also said that he is ready to spare his No.3 batting position for either of the players if it is going to benefit the team in the long run.

Mohammed Shami’s return will aid the strength of the Indian pacers. In the presence of this swing bowler in the squad, it will be a point of merit to dominate the Kangaroos’ strong batting order. With Jasprit Bumrah being in his absolute form, the duo of him and Shami will be troublesome for the Aussies.

Both India and Australia will be having their eyes on the prize but with the given form of both the teams’ players, it will be a worthwhile cricketing battle between the two.
