Recently, former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting expressed his desire to play along with West Indie’s former batsman Brian Lara in the upcoming Bushfire relief fundraiser match.

Punter took on his Twitter to share a video of him practicing and Brain Lara practicing in the nets with other cricketers. Ponting captioned this video by writing, “If I’m batting  three on Sunday, hopefully, this guy is on my team and batting for @brainlara.”

If this incident ever happens then for sure many cricket lovers’ dreams will come true. It will be a treat to see two legendary players sharing the crease.

Talking about Ricky Ponting, the former Kangaroo skipper has scored 27,486 runs for Australia in his international career and also has led his country in all three formats of the game.

Ponting also led Australia to two World Cup wins in 2003 and 2007. He played his last Test in 2012.

The iconic cricketer also holds the record for scoring most international centuries by any player.

On the other hand, Brian Lara holds the record of scoring the highest score in Tests and first-class scores of 400 not out and 501 not out respectively.

The Bushfire League was prior set to play at Sydney on Saturday but weather forecast prompted Cricket Australia to postpone it on Sunday.  The match will now be played on 9th February.

The match was slated to be played between Ponting XI and Warne XI, but now Adam Gilchrist will be taking over the captaincy from Shane Warne, as the former cricketer has some prior commitments.

Both Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist will pick their playing 11 later today.
