On Wednesday, Bangalore registered an eight-wicket victory against Kolkata at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. It was the brilliant performance by Mohammed Siraj that restricted Kolkata to just 84 runs at a loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Siraj created history by becoming the first bowler to bowl two maiden overs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match.

Apart from the historic spell, Mohammed Siraj even scrapped three wickets in his first two overs. Siraj’s bowling stat showed that he gave away eight runs off the four overs his bowled.

Speaking of his brilliant performance, Mohammed Siraj said, “Everyone in the RCB supports me a lot, even the fans. So, I wanted to deliver a magical performance for the team… and it was a magical performance.”

During Bangalore’s batting inning, they easily chased down the target of 85 runs at the loss of 2 wickets with 39 balls to spare.

The Bangalore-based franchise’s young batsmen Devdutt Padikkal and Gurkeerat Singh Mann played fiery knocks of 25 and 21 runs respectively. Their batting helped Bangalore chase down the target in the 14th over.

In the post-match presentation, Siraj said that by looking at the pitch he didn’t think it will swing. However, when Virat Kohli asked him to bowl with the new ball, he agreed.

The 26-year pacer further adds that he was practising to bowl in the nets with the new ball. Hence, when the skipper gave him the opportunity he backed his strength.

The win has propelled Bangalore to jump at the number two position on the IPL Points Table. On the other hand, Kolkata remains at number four position.

Up next, Bangalore will lock horns with Chennai on October 25. Meanwhile, Kolkata will face-off Delhi on October 24.
