Former India Skipper Kapil Dev Suffers Heart Attack; Undergoes Coronary Angioplasty

Former India skipper Kapil Dev has been hospitalised after he suffered a heart attack. The 62-year old has undergone an emergency coronary angioplasty because he was complaining about chest pain. The legendary cricket was admitted to the hospital’s emergency department on October 23 at 1 AM.

The statement issued by Fortis Escorts hospital said that Kapil Dev got admitted as he was complaining about chest pain. It further adds that the World Cup-winning captain evaluated by the doctors. Later, they had to perform an emergency coronary angioplasty.

Meanwhile, Kapil Dev is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under observation. However, according to the reports his condition is now stable.

The full statement by Fortis Escorts Hospital reads, “Former Indian Cricket captain Mr. Kapil Dev, Age 62 years, came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on 23rd October with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary Angioplasty was performed by Dr. Atul Mathur, Director of Cardiology Department, in the middle of night.”

It further adds that Kapil Dev’s health is under the supervision of Dr.  Atul Mathur and his team.

After hearing the news of Kapil Dev suffering a heart attack, many sports personalities wished him a speedy recovery. Among many include Gautam Gambhir, Saina Nehwal, and commentator Harsha Bhogle.

Taking to their social media handles, they all wished the legendary player a speedy recovery and good health in the future.

For the unknown, it is under the captaincy of Kapil Dev that team India lifted their maiden cricket World Cup. Team India defeated the mighty West Indies in 1983 to claim the trophy.
