IPL 2020: U19 India Bowler Ravi Bishnoi Eager To Learn From Anil Kumble

Ravi Bishnoi will play from Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020.

U19 India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi had an unforgettable ICC Under-19 World Cup. Even when India lost in the finals against Bangladesh, Bishnoi stood out as a star. The leggie picked 17 wickets in 6 matches and went on to become the highest wicket-taking bowler of the tournament.

The young chap is going to play from Kings XI Punjab in this year’s IPL. He was picked up by the Punjab franchise in the recent IPL auction for 2 crore INR. Bishnoi is eagerly looking forward to playing IPL. The reason for his eagerness is that he will get to learn under Kings XI Punjab’s coach none other than Anil Kumble.

In a recent interview, Ravi said, I am very excited that I will get to spend quality time with none other than Anil Kumble Sir during the IPL and my only lookout is to pick his brain and learn as much as I can. I will look to stay around him and work on the finer areas of my bowling under his guidance.”

Talking about the recent U19 World Cup record, the young bowler said, “I wasn’t there for records. My aim was to win my team games and ultimately come back with the trophy. It was always on my mind that every time I take the field, I should contribute in a manner that we come out triumphant at the end of the game.”

When quizzed about any disappointments or grudges regarding the loss suffered in the final game against Bangladesh, he said, “A little disappointed would be an understatement and it will always stay with me that we couldn’t pass the final test. We did well right through but winning the final would have been the perfect way to end.”

On a side note, Bishnoi was amongst the five players who were sanctioned by ICC for their brawl after the game. But Ravi didn’t want to talk about it at this moment.

Talking about IPL, Ravi thinks that it will be an important platform to impress the selectors.
