India vs Australia: Injured David Warner To Miss Out On Test Series?

Doubts hover over injured David Warner and his return for the Test series against India later next month. He suffered a strain in his groin while fielding during the second ODI.

The second ODI between India and Australia concluded on Sunday. The hosts thrashed the Men In Blue to win the three-match ODI series with a 2-0 lead. However, the Kangaroos suffered a major blow as their star batsman David Warner suffered an injury. He strained his groin while fielding and had to leave the field for medical assistance. Owing to the same, David Warner might miss out on the Test series starting next month.

During the second ODI, David Warner limped his way out of the field, making his return doubtful. After a brilliant performance with the bat, the left-hand batsman awkwardly fell on the field suffering a strain. For the unknown, he played a fiery knock of 83 runs against India on Sunday.

As per the latest reports, Warner will not be playing the final ODI against India on December 4. In fact, he will also not be able to play the three-match T20Is commencing on Friday.

David Warner has been replaced with opening batsman D’Arcy Short for the T20I starting later this week. Apart from Warner, Aussie bowler Pat Cummins is also been rested for the last ODI. Thus, Mitchell Starc will have to carry on the baton.

Speaking of David Warner’s injury, Cricket Australia said, “Davie will work through his injury rehab and in Pat’s case it is important all of our players are managed well to keep them mentally and physically fit throughout what is a challenging summer.”

Thus, there is a chance that David Warner might miss out on the Test series against India starting December 17.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli and company will be looking out to win the final ODI to avoid a whitewash.
