India Under Virat Kohli In New Zealand Reminds Sanjay Manjrekar Of Pakistan Under Imran Khan

Sanjay Manjrekar says that Virat Kohli’s captaincy in the T20I series reminds him of Pakistan’s former captain Imran Khan.

The Indian Cricket team has registered a historic series win against New Zealand by whitewashing the Kiwis for 5-0 in the five-match T20I series. Everyone is applauding India’s teamwork and Virat Kohli’s captaincy post the victory.

Meanwhile, a cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has made a surprising statement on Virat’s captaincy. The former cricketer said that he spots a lot of similarities between the Indian cricket team under Virat Kohli and Pakistan under Imran Khan, saying both instilled strong-self belief in their team.

Manjrekar further added that Pakistan under Imran Khan used to find different ways of winning matches, often from losing positions. Manjrekar took on his Twitter after India’s 7-run win and concluded the historic series win over New Zealand.

In a series OF Tweets that followed post the win also called ‘batsman-keeper’ KL Rahul as the find of the T20 Series in New Zealand.

The ex-cricketer also praised Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson, saying that the next batting brigade of India obviously has the skill and the power game, they just need to infuse a small dose of Virat’s batting mind into their game.

Talking about the T20I series against New Zealand, Virat Kohli became the captain with a most bilateral series win after 15 T20I wins. He now has 10 bilateral T20 series win as captain- the most by any skipper in T20Is as he surpassed South Africa’s Faf Du Plessis 9 victories.

Apart from T20Is, Virat Kohli is also the most successful Test captain in Indian cricket history with overall 33 wins, record 13 overseas Test wins and highest ever win percentage recorded with greater than 2 matches as captain.
