India Tour Of New Zealand: India’s All-Round Performance Guides Them To Lead The T20I Series by 2-0

India’s all-round performance in the second T20I against New Zealand helps them thrash the Kiwis by winning the match by 7 wickets and take the lead of 2-0 in the five-match series.

India produced an all-round performance and thrashed the Kiwis for 7 wickets victory in the second T20I. Owing to this victory India has taken a lead of 2-0 in the five-match series.

The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli praised his bowlers for India’s splendorous win over New Zealand in the 2nd T20 International on Sunday.

After winning the toss the hosts decided to bat first. And New Zealand’s plan to put up a decent target on board backfired as their wickets tumbled in front of India’s brilliant bowling attack. New Zealand went on to score 132 runs at the loss of 5 wickets at the end of the 20 overs game. Wicketkeeper Tim Seifert and opener Martin Guptil were the top scorers for the Kiwis who contributed 33 runs each.

India also lost early wickets in the form of opener Rohit Sharma and skipper Virat Kohli but KL Rahul’s winnings saved the game. He scored 57 runs off 50 balls along with Shreyas Iyer who played a fiery knock and scored 44 runs off 33 balls. The duo easily chased down the total 133 runs in 17.3 overs.

Kohli said, “I think we had another good performance today, especially with the ball. The bowlers stood up and took control of what we wanted to do out there. Sticking one side of the wickets was a very good feature for us as a team to restrict a good New Zealand team for 132 runs which I think was below par.”

He also added that the pitch seemed good for 160 runs in the first half. Team India knew the angles of the field better, how the pitch was playing and as a captain, he was on his feet to take proactive decisions.

To back his bowlers for their amazing performance Virat said, “The ball gripped well for the spinners and I think Jadeja was outstanding. Chahal was a banker. Bumrah was amazing as well, and Shami and Shardul making very good contributions with the ball but I think we backed it up in the field more importantly.”

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja picked 2 wickets in the 4 overs he bowled and conceded only 18 runs. While Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shivam Dubey grabbed a wicket each.

The remaining three matches of the five-match series are much-win for the Kiwis as the visitors have already got the lead of 2-0.
