The Chennai-based franchise is visibly struggling in the on-going Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The former year runner-ups are not performing up to the mark this year. On the other hand, the Mumbai team is winning the hearts of the cricket buffs in each of their games. After a slow start, the Rohit Sharma led team has bounced back in the tournament with a bang. Today (Oct 23), Mumbai will lock horns with Chennai at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. While Chennai will be willing to grab those two points, Mumbai is looking forward to reign after losing to Punjab in double Super Over. However, Mumbai can add to Chennai’s misery in the tournament after this game.
As per the experts, the pitch at Sharjah has changed. It no longer allows any team to put up a 200-plus target and nor is ball flying to all city’s end.
Apparently, the pitches at Sharjah have been worn out after continuous use for the past month. Hence, batting second is proving to be a bit of a challenge.
This situation is surely not suitable for the Chennai-based franchise who is currently at the bottom of the IPL Points Table.
Speaking of Mumbai’s team, they are at the number three position on the points table. Thus, losing to Chennai’s won’t do much harm to them.
In the IPL 2020 opener game when Mumbai and Chennai clashed, the latter won. As per the stats, the number of the times these teams have faced-off each other, Chennai has registered a win in majority of the game.
However, this year the role seemed to have been reversed. In IPL 2020, Mumbai can add to Chennai’s misery.
While the MS Dhoni-led Chennai will play the game to stay afloat in the tournament, Mumbai will be eyeing to climb up the points table.
The key player to look forward to from Chennai’s side is Sam Curran. The English all-rounder has been in-form for the team.
While on Mumbai’s side, their two key bowlers- Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult. They are proving to be a nightmare for the opposition.
