The globally renowned football legend was one of the best and brilliant players of all time and its very heart breaking to know that Argentinian legend Diego Maradona no more, dies at 60 years old.

The former Argentina football team’s attacking midfield player and manager got a heart attack at his home in Buenos Aires. Earlier, he had gotten a successful brain clot surgery done in November and further was to be given a treatment for his alcohol addiction.

Maradona was captain during the 1986 world cup where Argentina won with the famous “Hand of God” goal thereby defeating England in the quarter finals.

In the official statement released by the Argentina Football association on social media, their statement read, “its deepest sorrow for the death of our legend”, further adding, “You will always be in our hearts”.

On this saddest and painful news, the President of Argentina Roberto Fernandez declaring three days of national mourning in loving memory of their beloved football legend Diego, said, “You took us to the top of the world. You made us immensely happy. You were the greatest of them all”.

Furthermore, he also added, “Thank you for having existed, Diego. We’re going to miss you all our lives”.

He represented Argentina on a global level in four world cups wherein he scored 34 goals in 91 appearances for Argentina’s national football team. In the first half of his career till late 1990’s, he leaded his country Argentina till the 1990 finals in Italy where they were defeated by Germany before helming the captaincy again in 1994 but was sent straightaway home after failing a drugs test for ephedrine and in the second half of his career he fought a battle with cocaine addiction following which he was banned for around 15 months after being tested positive for drugs in 1991 and finally he retired officially from professional football on his 37th birthday, during his second stint at Argentinos Juniors.

Having briefly managed both sides of Argentina during his professional career as a footballer for Argentina National Football team, he was brought on board officially as the head coach of Argentina’s national team in 2008 and he left after the 2010 football world cup where his team was defeated brutally by Germany in quarter finals.

He simultaneously also did manage United Arab Emirates Football team and Mexico’s football team as well. He was the incharge of Gimnasia y Esgrima in Argentina’s top flight during the time of his death.
