IPL 2020: Eoin Morgan Says Senior Players In Kolkata Take On Leadership Role Without Title

Eoin Morgan says that senior players in the Kolkata team who don’t have titles also take on the leadership role. He believes that leaders without titles play an important role in any team. Read below to know more.

The Kolkata-based franchise is doing decently well in the on-going Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in the UAE. The youngsters in the team are impressing everyone with their match-winning knocks. While other senior players in the team also are providing the necessary support. Speaking of the same, England skipper Eoin Morgan claims that senior players in the Kolkata team without titles also take on the leadership role. The World Cup-winning captain believes that ‘leaders without titles’ play an important role in the team’s betterment.

Explaining himself, Eoin Morgan said that it plays an important role. As the designated one if a team intends to travel in the right direction in its pursuit of greatness.

The Kolkata squad is led by team India wicket-keeping batsman Dinesh Kartik. Expressing also expressed his thoughts on DK’s captaincy. Morgan feels that it has worked out in the past 3 weeks of the Indian Premier League.

When asked about if he provides any input in the decision making, Morgan said, “I think it has worked really well so far. I think DK and Brendon McCullum lead extremely well within the team.”

He further added, “Within aspect of the rest of the players, we have a number of senior leaders that take on roles that don’t have a title.”

Eoin Morgan concluded by saying that senior players taking on the leadership role help the rest of the Kolkata team get clarity.

As of now, the Kolkata franchise is on the number 4 position on the IPL Points Table. They have won 3 matches out of the 5 they have played.
