Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni’s retirement has been a topic of discussion since the 38-year old took a break from cricket after India’s loss to New Zealand in the 2019 ICC World Cup semi-final. Recently, all these speculations and rumors ignited again as Dhoni’s name was missing from BCCI’s annual central contract list. Although Dhoni’s exclusion from the contract is rather more technical and does not imply that Dhoni’s career is over, but it has got his fans worried about his future. So much so, that #DhoniWeNeedYou has been trending on Twitter since Friday morning.
With this legendary cricketer’s fan clubs rooting for him, it is a clear indication that the Thala Dhoni is being missed by the cricket lovers. It’s very obvious for the cricket fans to feel Dhoni’s absence, after all, it was under his captaincy that the Indian team saw its glory. They went on to lift the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, along with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and also the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. MS Dhoni is till date the only captain to have won all three of ICC’s prestigious trophies.
MS Dhoni retired from Test Cricket in 2014 and probably will also not be a part of the Indian team for any of the upcoming matches. If talking about Dhoni’s place in the T20 World Cup in October, his selection will solely be depended on his performances during the IPL.
MS Dhoni will be leading the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020, and his team will surely be keen to win their fourth IPL trophy.
