Bangladesh cricketers have agreed to donate half of their monthly salaries to the government fund as they are battling the coronavirus pandemic in the country. 27 players are contributing half their monthly wages, according to the reports. Out of For these, 17 players are in the BCB contract list and the remaining 10 players have recently played in the national team.
“The whole world is fighting against coronavirus pandemic. The outbreak of coronavirus is also increasing in Bangladesh. We, the cricketers, are trying to aware people in social media to take necessary steps to prevent this pandemic”, said the player in a joint statement.
The players further added, “After excluding the tax, the sum will be around 25 lakh taka. Maybe this fund is not so large in comparison with the fight against coronavirus. But if we can all contribute from our own positions together, it could be a bigger step in the fight against the coronavirus.”
A total of 39 have tested positive of the deadly virus in Bangladesh with five deaths.
