Almost six months after the legendary footballer Christiano Ronaldo and his wife Georgina Rodriguez announced that they were expecting twins, on Monday he announced that he and his long-term partner Georgina lost their baby son. The couple announced the tragic news in a statement posted on their social media accounts on April 18.
The statement reads, “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away,” their joint statement read. “It is the greatest pain that any parent can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
The couple announced the news about expecting twins in 2021 in an Instagram post. It read, “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins,” the pair wrote alongside a photo of the duo with two sonograms. “Our hearts are full of love-we can’t wait to meet you #blessed.”
The couple had 4 kids before the youngest twins, also the twins are not the first to join the family. Both Christiano and Georgia have a pair of twins namely Eva and Mateo. Christiano first became a father in 2010, with his son Cristiano Jr. “With the agreement of the mother, who wishes to remain anonymous,” he announced on social media while keeping the exclusive custody of his son.
Later in 2017, the footballer welcomed his twin son and daughter, Mateo and Eva. A month later the athlete confirmed the news of expecting a baby with his partner Georgia Rodriguez who gave birth to their first baby daughter named Alana in November 2017.
Following the devastating news, the Manchester United club released a statement on social media, quoting “Your pain is our pain. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”
