Virat Kohli Loses No.1 Spot
Virat Kohli is struggling to find his prior form and that is clearly seen in the on-going Test series against New Zealand. Virat Kohli who usually scores a big chunk of runs is failing to reach even double digits. And his poor form has cost him his place in the ICC Test rankings.
The India skipper was at the top of the run-scorers chart with 906 runs has slipped down to No.2 after the consistent failure of scoring runs. The ranking also features other India batsmen like Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Mayank Agarwal at 8th, 9th and 10th spot respectively.
Kohli’s downfall meant Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith was back on top of the list for the eighth time, after first reaching the No.1 spot in 2015. Prior to Smith and Kohli, Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson reined the top spot back in December 2015.
Talking about the bowling chart, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who took three wickets for 99 in the first innings of the opening Test match against New Zealand slipped to 9th position but still remains the only Indian bowler in the top 10 rankings.
In the all-rounder's chart, two India players remain on the 5th and 6th position- Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.
In the ICC World Test Championship, India is at the top of the chart with 360 points, followed by Australia who is with 296 points still way behind the Men In Blue.
