Harry Kane opened up about the conversation he has with Joe Gomez privately after the defender was involved in a physical altercation with Raheem Sterling. Sterling was asked to sit out from the game by manager Gareth Southgate after he clashed with Gomez during Liverpool’s win over Pep Guardiola’s side.

Though Kane wasn't present at the time of the confrontation he knew it was Sterling who started it all. So their coach Southgate sought advice from England’s senior players on what punishment should be dished out to the former Liverpool man. Kane said, “I then spoke to Joe privately about how he was feeling. Emotions had run high just after it happened so I spoke to Raz and then me and a few of the senior players spoke about what we should do. Joe and Raz then got together and had a chat. After that, I spoke to Joe again to see how he was feeling. He was feeling better after his chat with Raz. The gaffer spoke to me and a few of the senior players and we made the decision we wanted to make and we did it as a group. Raz missed the game, apologised, and him and Joe were fine after that."

He also revealed that they had a private meeting, and though didn't give the details went on to say they that they tried to understand what went on and why as they spoke to them both. Kane also revealed that they never had to deal with a situation like Sterling and Gomez’s before.

But there was confusion amongst the England players, as ts why Joe was booed after he walked out of the tunnel before thrashing Montenegro. Sterling too condemned the actions of the England fans on Twitter. Kane also revealed that after booing occurred he spoke to Joe about the same. He said, “I spoke to him and he seemed fine. It was confusing but we cannot control the fans or what they do but Joe has a top mentality and is fighting to play on Sunday.”
