Ben Stokes Runs Half Marathon To Raise Funds; Check Out

English cricketer Ben Stokes completed half a marathon in one hour and 39 minutes to raise funds which he will be donating to NHS charities Together and national children’s cricket charity Chance To Shine. Read below to know more.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic English all-rounders Ben Stokes has run his first half marathon to raise funds for Britain's National Health Service. The World Cup winner completed the half marathon in one hour and 39 minutes. Not only will the raised funds be donated to NHS but also Charities Together and national children's cricket charity Chance to Shine amid the to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Stokes, who completed the run near his home in the North-East of England, urged fans to donate to a fundraising page set up by three amateur cricketers who ran full marathons in their back garden.

The 28-year old cricketer posted a video on social media platforms after completing the run and said, "That was so hard! Please donate if you can, it's all for a great cause: the NHS Charities Together and Chance to Shine."

The chief executive at Chance to Shine, Laura Cordingley said, "For Ben to see their efforts and decide to support them is really amazing. I'm sure he could have raised a huge amount in his own name but to get behind their fundraising page is a really amazing gesture."

The English cricket team players earlier donated 500,000 pounds to the COVID-19 relief fund. Even English wicket-keeping batsman Jos Buttler raised 65,000 pounds by auctioning his World Cup final jersey. The jersey was signed by all the World Cup winning squad members.

Buttler auctioned the jersey on eBay last week and donated the fund raised by it to Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals in London for specialist heart and lung centers.
