2019 was an incredible year for the England cricket team. The summer witnessed the English players lifting their maiden ICC 50-50 World Cup. The star of the season was all-rounder Ben Stokes, he not only was in his best form but also lead the English side to World Cup victory. For the praiseworthy performance, Ben Stokes was given a royal honor at the Buckingham Palace.
Along with Ben Stokes, wicket-keeper Jos Buttler, skipper Eoin Morgan, Coach Trevor Bayliss, and Test side skipper Joe Root also received the honors as a part of the New Year’s Honors List.
Stokes has been honored with An Official of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for the services to cricket, while Jos Buttler was made a Member of Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) owing to a remarkable year for England, who beat the Kiwis to win the men’s World Cup for the first time.
Recalling the moments, Ben Stokes played a fiery knock of 84 runs in the final to the tie the game. He then batted in the Super Over to help the England team reach the victory.
On the other hand, Jos Buttler featured in the turning point of the final game. The run-out of Martin Guptil lead England to win the title on the basis of the boundary-countback rule.
