IPL 2020: Ajinkya Rahane On Not Getting To Play For Delhi In The Tournament

In the on-going Indian Premier League (IPL), batsman Ajinkya Rahane didn’t get to play more for Delhi. However, while he went to bat against Bangalore on Monday, Rahane played a crucial knock helping Delhi clinch a win. However, the 32-year old was disheartened not to get a game in the 13th season of the IPL.

Speaking of Delhi’s outing against Bangalore, Shikhar Dhawan alongside Ajinkya Rahane helped their team to chase down the target of 153 runs put up by the latter team. While chasing, Dhawan scored 54 while Rahane scored 60.

Shikhar Dhawan returned to the pavilion early on, on the other hand, Rahane stayed on the crease. He got out when Delhi was 18 runs short of the target.

Despite his amazing performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Ajinkya Rahane didn’t get to play for Delhi at the start of the tournament. For the unknown, Rahane has 3931 runs in his kitty by playing 146 matches in the IPL.

During his interaction with Dhawan for IPLT20.com, Rahane said, “Was disappointed when I didn’t get to play. Felt good after contributing to the team’s win and enjoyed batting with you (Dhawan). The way you batted I learned a lot.”

Furthermore, Rahane added that Ricky Ponting told him that he is going to bat at number three. After hearing this, the batsman felt good to have an opportunity.

The win against Virat Kohli-led Bangalore team helped Delhi qualify for the play-offs. They will now lock horns with Mumbai in the first qualifier. The winner of this match will directly qualify for the finals.

Well, if Delhi would have won against Bangalore inside 17.3 overs, Kolkata would have qualified for the playoffs.

Speaking of Bangalore, even after losing to Delhi, they have qualified for the playoffs with 14 points from the 14 matches they played in the tournament.
