The Gateway is a Novel by Hariharan Balagopal. It is a fast-paced crime action thriller, against the backdrop of murders of senior citizens in the country in general and Delhi in particular. The book examines the ways to enable the elderly and the aged to reinvent themselves and stay relevant socially, for their own safety and security.
It was released by Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, former Chief Justice of India, at the 14th Security Leadership Summit held in Delhi recently, in the presence of Mr. Manish Shankar Sharma, IPS, Mr. Arun Govil, Actor and Icon, and Mr. Kunwar Vikram Singh, former Chairman of World Association of Detectives. Sh. Shivraj Patil, former Home Minister of India, and Governor of Punjab also graced the occasion and was also presented a copy of the book by the author.
The novel emphasises on the need for the society to come together to fight crime against the elderly, some of which even go unnoticed, and unreported. It has won acclaim for the subject it tackles, and the presentation of a difficult subject in an engrossing story form.
