Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moose Wala Killed At The Age Of 28

Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala has been shot dead by unidentified assailants at his village called Jawaharke in Mansa district. Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted, “Deeply shocked at the broad day light murder of Sidhu Moose Wala. Punjab and Punjabis across the world have lost a talented artist with mass connect, who could feel people’s pulse. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and fans across the world.”

A few months ago, Sidhu Moose Wala joined Congress for the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. During the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election, a case was filed against him for holding a door-to-door campaign in Mansa constituency for violating the code of conduct.

Sidhu often made headlines for controversies. He was highly criticized for glorifying Khalistani movement via his song. In December 2020, he released a song titled “Panjab: My Motherland”, in which he glorified Khalistani separatist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. The song also includes visuals from a speech made by Khalistani supporter Bharpur Singh Balbir in the late 1980s.

Earlier in 2020, his videos went viral in which he was training to use an AK-47 with five police officers in one video and a personal pistol in another. A case was then filed against him and the police even conducted raids to arrest him. However, he went underground and evaded the arrest. Since then, he was out by receiving regular bails.

Sidhu Moose Wala was often criticized for promoting gun culture in the country and hurting religious sentiments with his songs. On 29 May 2022, he was shot by unidentified people and he died on spot. He was 28 years old.
