Prime Minister On His Rally in Bihar: Opposition Wants Article 370

Narendra Modi had his first rally for Bihar 2020 elections and he left no stone unturned.

The Prime Minister on his rally in Bihar said that the opposition wants to bring back Article 370.

Article 370 gave Jammu and Kashmir special status. The BJP removed it last year.

“Everyone was waiting for Article 370 to be repealed but these people are saying that they will overturn the decision once they are voted to power,” PM Modi said in Sasaram, addressing a joint rally with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

“The NDA government abrogated Article 370. These people say they will bring it back if they come to power. After making such statements they dare to ask for votes from Bihar? Is this not an insult of Bihar? The state which sends its sons and daughters to the borders to protect the country?”

Nitish Kumar On Article 370

The current CM of Bihar was initially against the move. He and and his party Janta Dal United had opposed the central government move in both houses of the Parliament.

The fact that Nitish Kumar is now an ally of BJP is surprising. This could be his attempt in saving his chair if BJP wins.

The JDU were a little upset that they were not consulted about the repealing of Article 370 but they would support it as it is the law now. The JDU and Nitish Kumar are now hand in hand with the centre’s decision.

“The special status of Kashmir is now over and Article 370 is behind us,” JDU leader RCP Singh said in August last year.

This is not the first time that Article 370 has come up in Bihar campaigns.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who is holding campaigns for BJP in Bihar also brought it up. He said that the removal if 370 has now give a chance to everyone to own and but property in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Earlier, a person from this part of Bihar could not even think of owning property in Kashmir. The Congress had put such a system in place. But Narendra Modi and Amit Shah changed all that. Article 370 has been scrapped and the people now can buy and own property in any part of Kashmir,” he said.

He said this is in the rallies of Jamui, Tarari and Paliganj.
