Prakash Raj Criticizes Tribute To Lata Mangeshkar In Ayodhya

Prakash Raj takes a dig at BJP for installing a 40-foot tall Veena at a chowk in Ayodhya as a tribute to legendary Lata Mangeshkar.

On the 93rd birth anniversary of Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, a 40-foot tall veena has been installed in Ayodhya. The musical instrument associated with Saraswati has been installed at a popular junction named Lata Mangeshkar Chowk to pay tribute to the late legendary singer. It was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the event virtually.

PM Modi tweeted, “Remembering Lata Didi on her birth anniversary. There is so much that I recall…the innumerable interactions in which she would shower so much affection. I am glad that today, a Chowk in Ayodhya will be named after her. It is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest Indian icons.”

However, actor and politician Prakash Raj criticized this tribute to Lata Mangeshkar while slamming the ruling party. He wrote, “Veena Will be played politically .. while children are served salt n rice #justasking.”

Prakash Raj’s tweet is getting mixed responses from the netizens. A few users are in agreement with Prakash Raj and are sharing a clip from Ayodhya where school kids can be seen eating boiled rice and salt during Mid-day meals in Ayodhya. A user wrote, “School kids are eating school meal, boiled rice and salt in Ayodhya, India. In that town, Hindu right wing is building a huge temple spending 18 billion rupees after demolishing a mosque.”

Someone defended the BJP government’s tribute to Lata Ji and wrote, “Veena is not a political toy. It is a tribute to one of the greatest musicians of our times the late LATA ji who is considered as the epitome of goddess Saraswathi. The government of UP in honour of such a wonderful musician have established Lata Mangeshkar chowk.”

In a war of words, a netizen wrote, “Lata ji would be ashamed of this govt for wasting money in her name when poor kids are not getting a proper meal…”

Someone hit back at Prakash Raj as he wrote, “In your favourite state Telangana, children are getting hospitalised after consuming food served in government school / college hostels. And we have seen you playing Veena in favour of State government.”

A user also accussed Prakash Raj of having personal agenda in a tweet that reads, “He won’t do #justasking campaign, question, criticize or troll KCR.. he is looking for Rajya Sabha seat. Lok Sabha door is closed for him.”

Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28 September 1929 and passed away on 6 February 2022 at the age of 92.
