PM Modi on poverty: I have reached here by selling tea on the railway platform

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that poverty will be eradicated from India in the coming years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a tour to Saudi Arabia. During his interaction at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) PM said that poverty will be eradicated from the country in the coming few years.

“My background is not that of any big political family. I have not learnt about poverty from the books but I have lived it. I have reached here by selling tea on the railway platform. In a few years, India will be successful in eradicating poverty. My fight against poverty is by empowering poor. Poor need dignity. When a poor person says that he will himself end his poverty, then there is no greater satisfaction. All we need is to provide him with dignity and empower him.”

He also added “It gives me immense satisfaction to see that a change in India brings the change in figures for the world. When we make India open-defecation-free (ODF) or eradicate poverty, then the figures of the world change. It gives the satisfaction that we are contributing to improving the world.”

The Crown Prince of Saudi hosted a dinner for Modi and the PM took to his Twitter to thank him for the same. “It is always a delight to meet His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. His vision for Saudi Arabia is remarkable. We had an extensive meeting during which we discussed numerous issues. Stronger friendship between our nations augurs well for our people,” PM Modi tweeted after the Crown Prince hosted him for dinner.”
