Owaisi will also chant Hanuman Chalisa: BJP’s Kapil Mishra

BJP MP Kapil Mishra on Tuesday tweeted that AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi will also recite Hanuman Chalisa after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

BJP leader and candidate from Delhi’s Model Town constituency, Kapil Mishra, who has already been warned by the Election Commission for his provocative speeches on Tuesday made yet another statement that stirred a controversy.

Mishra, who was banned from the campaigning for 48 hours after he equated Delhi polls with India vs Pakistan contest, took to Twitter on Tuesday and wrote: “Kejriwal has started reading Hanuman Chalisa..Now Owaisi will also start reading it.”

The tweet was in reference to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reciting Hanuman Chalisa when he was asked if he was a Hanuman devotee during an interview.

Further in the tweet, Mishra called for unity and said: “This is the power of our unity. We should remain united and vote as one force.”

However, in the same breath, Mishra wrote: “Our unity will dig the grave of the dirty politics played by the 20 per cent vote bank.”

Mishra did not explain the ’20 per cent’ vote bank he was referring to.

The BJP has come under sharp criticism after several of its leaders were caught making inflammatory or provocative speeches during the campaigning for Delhi Assembly polls which are scheduled on February 8.

Though the poll body rapped the Mishra and other BJP leaders for violating the model code of conduct, critics and opposition have termed it superficial and argued that more needs to be done to keep the leaders in check.
