Indian business tycoon Gautam Adani has committed to donating Rs 60,000 Crore towards social causes to mark his 60th birthday. The donation will be managed by the Adani Foundation to the areas of healthcare, education and skill development across the nation.
Gautam Adani, one of Asia’s richest men, took to his social media handle and announced, “On our father’s 100thbirth anniversary & my 60thbirthday, Adani Family is gratified to commit Rs 60,000 cr in charity towards healthcare, edu & skill-dev across India. Contribution to help build an equitable, future-ready India.”
This pledge also honors the birth centenary year of Gautam Adani’s father, Shantilal Adani. Speaking on the same, Gautam said, “This is one the largest transfers made to a foundation in the Indian corporate history.”
Gautam Adani’s net worth was reported to be almost $92 billion, while according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, he has added a little more $15 billion to his wealth this year, making him the biggest gainer globally.
