A person who arrived at Mangaluru airport from Dubai and was admitted to a hospital’s isolation ward with coronavirus symptoms has gone missing, sources said.

The patient, who arrived on Sunday, was transferred to Wenlock District Hospital with a high fever and a few coronavirus symptoms.

He reportedly argued late in the night with the hospital staff that he hadn’t contracted the virus and left the hospital saying that he’ll be seeking care in a private hospital.

The health officer at the hospital called the police, and a high warning was sounded in the coastal districts to find the person who had escaped from the hospital.

Dakshina Kannada District Health Officer Sikandar Pasha had previously said that the patient will be kept under observation for 24 hours and discharged following routine testing.

On Monday the District Health Department filed a complaint with the Mangaluru Police Station and investigation is on.
