Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday ripped into the UP government over the encounter killing of gangster Vikas Dubey, saying while the criminal has gone, what about those protecting him.

Dubey was murdered by the cops after he was attempting to escape soon after a police vehicle conveying him overturned on their way back to Kanpur. Four police officers, incorporating an investigator posted in Nawabganj, were harmed in the mishap, IG, Kanpur Range, Mohit Agarwal said.

In a tweet in Hindi, the Congress leader said, "The criminal has gone, but what about the crime and those protecting him.

Dubey, the prime blamed in the Kanpur massacre of cops, was captured from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday morning.

Priyanka Gandhi had before requested a CBI test to learn the realities about the "award of assurance" to Dubey.

The Congress general secretary had likewise denounced the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh of "complete disappointment" in dealing with the Kanpur ambush case in which eight cops were murdered.
