Coronavirus: 1,400 people from Maharashtra attended Nizamuddin event, 1,300 identified, 2 test positive
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope today said that over 1,400 people from the state attended Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi's Nizamuddin. He added 1,300 have been traced and are being quarantined. "Their samples will be collected for coronavirus testing," he further said.

Maharashtra government on Thursday said that the authorities have managed to trace 1300 out of total 1400 people in the state who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz event in south Delhi's Nizammudin area, which later turned out to be a Covid-19 hotspot.
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope confirmed that two people from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area who went to Nizamuddin have been found positive for the novel coronavirus.
"From the state of Maharashtra around 1400 people had gone there. The state has been able to trace 1300 people. The process of quarantine all of them have started. This is from all over Maharashtra. Help is being taken from the NGOs and NSS along with police and state officials in the quarantine process," the minister informed media on Thursday.
The minister said that all those who attended the Delhi event will be tested for Covid-19 and will be provided counseling.
Earlier, a senior health ministry official at the Centre said that at least 400 people who attended the Nizammudin Markaz event have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
"As per the information available so far, Tamil Nadu has reported 173 positive cases, Rajasthan 11, Andman Nicobar nine, Delhi 47, Puducherry 2, Jammu and Kashmir 22, Telangana 33, Andhra Pradesh 67 and Assam has reported 16 cases of novel coronavirus among people who attended Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi," a Union health ministry official told media.
The Union health ministry official said additional testing underway may further add to the number of cases linked to this cluster.
Meanwhile, Union home ministry has said that about 9,000 Tablighi Jamaat members and their primary contacts have been quarantined till now across the country in view of the coronavirus infection.
