Arnab Goswami has been released and he is furious. The Editor in Chief of Republic has dared the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He also in the same tone has declared that Uddhav Thackeray has lost the battle.
Goswami was in custody for a week before he was granted bail. He also accused the Chief Minister of getting him arrested on a fake case.
“Uddhav Thackeray, listen to me. You lost. You have been defeated,” said Goswami (47), while being surrounded by visibly relieved colleagues and well wishers from his Republic TV channel.
As soon as he was released from Taloja jail, near Mumbai, Goswami drove to the Lower Parel studio of the channel, of which he is the Editor-in-Chief.
Arnab Goswami then went on to talk about Mumbai police commissioner, Param Bir Singh and called his arrest as illegal. The Mumbai police had arrested Goswami on 4th November for abetting in the suicide of a 50 year old man.
The editor also spoke about the fact that he was subjected to 3 rounds of police interrogation. He was in police custody and was interrogated by the police. How unusual this was.
“Uddhav Thackeray, you arrested me in an old, fake case and did not even apologise to me,” said Goswami, who was seen sporting a stubble.
“The game has just begun,” he said and announced that he will launch Republic TV channel in every language and also have a presence in international media.
Saying he apprehended being arrested again, Goswami said, “I will launch (the channels) even from inside the jail and you (Thackeray) won’t be able to do anything.” Thanking the Supreme Court for granting him interim bail, Goswami spoke a few words in Marathi, rounding off with the ‘Jai Maharashtra’ slogan.
Arnab Goswami was released on Wednesday night after the Supreme court granted him interim bail. They also said that it will be a “travesty of justice” if personal liberty is curtailed.
Arnab Goswami and the state government are at odds with the former bashing the government and state police over their handling of Sushant Singh Rajput case.
The editor of Republic TV had been the judge, the jury and the executioner for Rhea Chakraborty whom he deemed responsible for the suicide.

The irony is that Arnab Goswami was arrested for the same thing he accused Rhea Chakraborty for. This was no freedom of press issue. He was not arrested for bashing the state government or the police. Arnab Goswami was arrested for abetting in the suicide of a man who he had dues to paid. Let that sink in.
