Amit Shah calls 3rd meeting in 24hrs over Delhi violence as death toll reaches 17

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held his third meeting within 24 hours over violence in North-East Delhi as the death toll in the clashes rose to 17. The meeting came hours after Shah discussed the law and order situation with Governor Anil Baijal, CM Kejriwal and Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik.

The number of deaths following violence in northeast Delhi has risen to 18 on Wednesday, 26 February, according to a Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital official.

Early this morning, the Delhi High Court directed the Delhi Police to immediately escort some 20 persons injured in the ongoing riots in Mustafabad to the GTB Hospital for treatment, reported PTI.

Police on Tuesday dispersed the people who had gathered outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence demanding action against Delhi violence and seeking restoration of peace.

National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval met with Deputy Commissioner of Police North-East in Seelampur after reviewing security situation in North-East Delhi.
