Ahmed Patel’s Demise Is A Loss Of Our Guiding Light; Uddhav Thackeray

The senior Congress leader was a much loved member and was the key strategist of the Congress Party.

Ahmed Patel’s demise has shook the political scene of India. Many top politicians have shared their condolences. Among those are also Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar also expressed grief. They both shared that Patel was a guiding light for all of the parties.

According to CM Thackeray Ahmed Patel played a prominent role in the formation of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), that comprising of the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, which came to power in Maharashtra last year.

Ahmed Patel had served as the Congress’s backroom strategist for years. He died at a Gurugram hospital in the early hours of Wednesday. Patel was suffering from complications related to COVID-19.

Mr Thackeray in a statement said, “The Congress party has lost its Chanakya in Patel’s demise, while the MVA government has lost a guiding light.”

“I got help from his experience and guidance when the MVA government was formed,” the Chief Minister said.

Ahmed Patel was not only active in the political scene but also on a lot of social front.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar also said that he was deeply saddened to know about the demise of veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel.

“His contributions to the Congress party will always be remembered. My sincere condolences to the members of his family,” he said.

BJP senior minister and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also took to social media to express grief.

“Saddened to hear about the demise of veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel Ji. My sincere condolences to the departed soul. I pray for strength to his family members and supporters in this moment of grief. Om Shanti,” Mr Gadkari tweeted.

Maharashtra Congress presidentBalasaheb Thorat and senior party leader Ashok Chavan also paid tributes to Patel, saying the party had lost an experienced, committed and loyal leader as well as a skilled organiser.

Yesterday the Prime Minister had also took to microblogging site Twitter to share his condolences. He wrote,”Saddened by the demise of Ahmed Patel Ji. He spent years in public life, serving society. Known for his sharp mind, his role in strengthening the Congress Party would always be remembered. Spoke to his son Faisal and expressed condolences. May Ahmed Bhai’s soul rest in peace,”
