Actress Urmila Matondkar ventured into Politics and contested the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections with the backing of the Indian National Congress for Mumbai North Constituency. While she lost badly in the elections, she announced her exit on September 10, 2019.
Reports are rife that she might join Shiv Sena as Urmila was seen in a meeting with Uddhav Thackeray’s PA Milind Narvekar. But she tagged the meeting as “courtesy meeting.”
In her statement leaving INC Urmila stated “My political and social sensibilities refuse to allow vested interests in the party to use me as a mean to fight petty in-house politics instead of working on a bigger goal in Mumbai Congress.”
“To my utter dismay, the letter containing privileged and confidential communication was conveniently leaked to the media which according to me was an act of blatant betrayal. Needless to say, no one from the party was apologetic or even concerned towards me for the same despite my repeated protests,” she added.
While World Politics is taking interesting twists and turns, state politics is getting even worse with each passing day.
Let’s wait for Urmila’s further move.
