Mumbai reports highest single-day spike of 998 cases, total exceeds 16,500

Mumbai reported its highest single-day rise of coronavirus cases on Thursday after 998 people tested positive for the virus, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated. The death toll rose to 621 after 25 more coronavirus patients passed away, while the total number of cases in the city rose to 16,579.

Covid-19 cases in India has crossed the 80,000-mark today and death toll due to COVID-19 is over 2600. So far, there are 51,401 coronavirus active cases in the country.

While 27,919 Coronavirus positive patients have been cured or discharged, one has been migrated, as per details shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. As many as 2649 patients have died.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on Tuesday had said that the Lockdown will be extended beyond May 17 but in a new form. Lockdown 4 guidelines will soon be issued.
