Coronavirus: Biggest daily jump in COVID-19 deaths reported in India in 5 days

India has reported as many as 14,821 new positive cases of coronavirus and 445 deaths in the last 24 hours. With the surge in cases, the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country has mounted to 4,25,282, while the death toll rose to 13,699, as per the latest data by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday morning.

Of the total cases, 2,37,195 have been successfully treated while one case has been migrated from the country. There are 1,74,387 active cases of Covid-19 in India.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected by the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The total number of positive cases in the state has reached 1,32,075, according to the Union Health Ministry. The pandemic has claimed a total of 6,170 lives in the state so far.

Delhi has become the second-worst hit in the country with 59,746 Covid-19 cases and 2,175 deaths. Followed by Tamil Nadu with 59,377 cases and 757 deaths, Gujarat (27,260 cases, 1,663 deaths), Rajasthan (14,930 cases, 349 deaths) and  Madhya Pradesh (11,903 cases, 515 deaths).

Covid-19 recovery rate improves to 55.49%

On Sunday, the Union Health Ministry said that the recovery rate for coronavirus infection in the country has further improved to 55.49 per cent among patients.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) informed that a cumulative total of 68,07,226 samples have been tested up to Saturday.

Global tally crosses 8.9 million-mark

According to the Johns Hopkins University tracker, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases worldwide has crossed 8.9 million. There are 8,918,101 Coronavirus positive cases globally and 4,66,548 deaths, as per the Johns Hopkins’ tally.

The United States remains the worst affected by the Pandemic in the world with 2,278,373 positive cases of Covid-19, followed by Brazil with 1,083,341 cases, Russia (583,879) and India (410,461).
