Headaches are common conditions that many people deal with on a daily basis. Headaches if not treated can hinder our daily lives and activities. Cluster headaches are painful and occur in groups or “clusters,” while migraines are a type of headache that falls into moderate to severe category.

- Drink Water
Dehydration can be a cause of headaches. If one stays dehydrated for more than 3 hours, headache symptoms may occur. Drinking enough water throughout the day can help reduce headaches. Chronic dehydration is a common cause of tension headaches and even migraines.
- Adequate Sleep
Sleep deprivation is a common cause of headaches among individuals. These days due to the use of mobile phones till late night we compromise our sleep schedules that eventually lead to headaches the other day. A good 7-8 hours of sleep reduces the risk of headaches and improves overall health as well.
- Limit Alcohol
Many studies have shown that consumption of alcohol can trigger headaches and in some cases migraines. Headaches due to alcohol are usually clustered headaches. Alcohol also acts as a diuretic, causing the body to lose fluid and electrolytes through frequent urination. The loss of fluid can lead to dehydration which in turn can worsen headaches.
- Use Essential Oils
There has been no study to prove that essential oils can cure or help reduce headaches but it has worked for many people. Essential oils of lavender or other variety of plants and flowers can help reduce headaches. Rubbing the essential oil on the temple for a few seconds can help soothe the headaches.
- Cold Compress
Putting an ice pack on the back of the neck can help reduce severe migraine headaches. Cold or frozen compress decreases inflammation of blood vessels that can reduce headaches. Using ice packs or wrapping ice cubes in a soft towel can do the trick.
- Yoga & Meditation
Many people for years have preached that yoga and meditation can help reduce headaches. If yoga and meditation are practiced on a daily basis it can also help get rid of the frequent headaches forever. Taking deep breaths or laying straight on the back can help cure headaches.
