IPL 2020: Virender Sehwag Receives Bashing For Insulting Hyderabad Team; Netizens Call Him ‘Cheap Very Cheap’

After much of a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Indian Premier League (IPL) finally began on September 19 in the UAE. The tournament is up to a great start. So far there have been quite a few nail-biting matches as well. The cricket buffs are busy cheering their favourite team from the comfort of their homes because of COVID-19 scare. With all going good, a comment made by former India cricketer Virender Sehwag on the Hyderabad team didn’t go well with the cricket fans. Virender Sehwag is receiving bashing from the netizens for insulting the Hyderabad team.

Virender Sehwag is known for being quite candid about the team’s performance in any given tournament. The cricketer turned commentator said that Hyderabad should have tried to compete with the Mumbai.

Firing shots at the batting line-up of the Hyderabad franchise, as according to him that their batsmen allegedly aren’t capable. They can’t put up a target of 200-250 runs because the Sharjah ground is a high scoring ground.

The former team India opener said, “Mujhe lagta hai ki Hyderabad ko walkover dena chahiye, kyuni ki humare (SRH) batting mein dum nahi hain ki hum 200-250 run banaye. Hum toh 150 wale khilari hain, aur Mumbai ne agar peheli batting karli toh Mumbai banane wale hain 200 plus.”

Clearly, this statement made by Sehwag didn’t go well with the fans. Instead, Virender Sehwag started receiving bashing for insulting the Hyderabad team.

Some fans said that Sehwag has made it a habit to pass on such comments after his retirement. On the other hand, some users called his remarks ‘cheap’.

As of now, Virender Sehwag hasn’t reacted to the criticism which he is receiving online.

Speaking of Hyderabad’s performance in the IPL 2020, they are in the 6th position in the IPL Points Table. The David Warner-led franchise has won 2 matches out of the 5 they have played since the tournament’s start.
