This Is Why Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ Might Face A Legal Scrutiny Prior Its Release

Now that so many people have come forward to talk about the film's objectionable dancing scenes, it might come out as the court calls out Chhaava makers, and starcast to finally settle up with the modifications in the film.

Just when we thought that Vicky Kaushal will be turning another big star with his upcoming release ‘Chhaava’, objections over the film’s scenes have sparked controversies in India. The Vicky Kaushal starrer film might not get a green flag until modifications take place. The objections come out as a threat from Uday Samant, Maharashtra minister who was the first to raise his voice against the film.

The film trailer released just a few days ago, and has already garnered over 40 million views on youtube. The Dinesh Vijan production, however shows a scene in the trailer where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s portrayal is seen dancing with co-star Rashmika Mandanna with a “lezim”, a traditional musical instrument associated with Maharashtra’s cultural heritage. Reacting to the very scene, Uday Samant led a strong voice saying, “This movie should be shown to historians and scholars. If they raise objections, we will not let it be released,” as reported by news agency ANI.

Samant is completely against the fact that makes the respectable dancing on the screens, while the film aims to revolve around the life of Maratha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. This is not the first time that Uday Samant raised his voice against the film. Earlier he was seen expressing his views via a tweet.

He stated in the tweet that many people have already expressed their disagreement to a few scenes in Chhaava. “Our position is that this film should not be released without first showing it to experts and knowledgeable people. Anything that will harm the honor of the Maharaj will not be tolerated”

Udayanraje Bhosale – Descendant Of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Objects

Udayanaraje Bhosale, has also come out to express angst over the film’s release. Udayanraje is the 17th holder of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In a conversation with the film’s director Laxman Utekar, Bhosale said, “Whatever objections there may be, I and everyone else want you to correct it and release the film as soon as possible. Talking is easy, but doing it is equally difficult.” He also urged the director the delete the scene considering that the people’s sentiments have been hurt, especially the ones who are closely connected to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

Others Who Raise Objections On Chhaava Release

Earlier on Friday, former Rajya Sabha MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati also referred to the film and stated that it should be first shown to the historians before releasing outside to confirme the accuracy.

Meanwhile, an author told a news outlet recently, about how he found the ‘Chhaava’ movie trailer “objectionable”. He said, “I was shocked after watching the trailer. It’s totally objectionable. Producers have not been able to recognize Maratha women rightly…even today, Maratha women don’t come in front of men…there was no point of dancing.

Now that so many people have come forward to talk about the film’s objectionable dancing scenes, it might come out as the court calls out Chhaava makers, and starcast to finally settle up with the modifications in the film. The outrage so far, highlights that it might face challenges and could be sent under legal scrutiny if the team fails to follow the guidelines.
