It’s been nearly three years since actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu announced their divorce after four years of marriage. Though they never shared the reason for their separation, their divorce continues to be a topic of conversation. Recently, things took a political twist when Minister Konda Surekha made controversial statements, accusing BRS party leader K.T. Rama Rao of being involved in their breakup.
Both Naga Chaitanya and Samantha have kept silent about their personal life, but the politician’s claims sparked a response from them. Naga Chaitanya, who has been quiet through the gossip and online trolling, finally reacted publicly. His response, posted on Instagram, expressed his anger and disappointment.
For the first time since the divorce, Naga Chaitanya opened up about the pain of the situation. He shared a outburst message on Instagram, saying, “The decision to divorce is easily one of the most painful and unfortunate life decisions one has to make. After a lot of thought, a mutual decision was made by me and my former spouse to part ways. It was a decision made in peace, owing to our different life goals and in the interest of moving forward with respect and dignity as two mature adults.”
Chaitanya continued, “However, there have been various baseless and completely ridiculous rumors on the matter so far. I have remained silent all this while out of deep respect for my former spouse as well as my family.”
In direct response to Minister Surekha’s comments, he added, “Today, the claim made by Minister Konda Surekha garu is not only false, but it is also absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Women deserve to be supported and respected. Taking advantage of and exploiting the personal life decisions of celebrities for the sake of media headlines is shameful.”
Samantha Ruth Prabhu also took to Instagram to express her frustration with the politician’s claims. In her story, she clarified that their divorce was private and based on mutual consent.
“My divorce is a personal matter, and I request that you refrain from speculating about it. Our choice to keep things private doesn’t invite misrepresentation. To clarify: my divorce was mutual consent and amicable, with no political conspiracy involved,” Samantha wrote.
Samantha also spoke about the challenges women face in the public eye, especially when it comes to their personal lives. “To be a woman, to come out and work, to survive in a glamorous industry where women are more often than not treated as props, to fall in love & to fall out of love, to still stand up and fight… It takes a lot of courage and strength,” she added.
Also, actor Nani voiced his outrage at the politician’s remarks. He took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share his frustration, writing, “Disgusting to see politicians thinking they can get away with talking any kind of nonsense. When your words can be so irresponsible, it’s stupid of us to expect that you will have any responsibility for your people.”
Nani also pointed out that this issue wasn’t just about the film industry but about the larger problem of irresponsible statements by those in power. “It’s not just about actors or cinema. This is not about any political party. It is not okay for someone in such a respectable position to talk such utter baseless rubbish in front of the media and think that it is okay,” he added.
The controversy started when Konda Surekha, a politician from Telangana, claimed that BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao was somehow involved in Naga Chaitanya and Samantha’s divorce. She accused him of being involved in illegal activities like drug use and phone tapping and that these actions played a role in the couple’s separation.
These allegations were quickly dismissed by both actors, who made it clear that their divorce had no political connection. The accusations have been widely criticized as an attempt to drag personal matters into politics.
